Myofascial Release for Yoga Teachers
It’s not enough to support muscle strength and flexibility; the connective tissue, or fascia, that surrounds, supports and interconnects our muscles must be supple and elastic as well. As teachers we want every possible tool to help our students care for their health and wellness, and myofascial release is a powerful, yet accessible, tool that perfectly complements the other yoga practices in our teaching toolkit.
Sunday 11.30am to 4pm you’ll delve into the practice of Myofascial Release, learning how to use targeted pressure on key trigger points to revitalise tissues from head to toe. Then on Sunday 4.30-5.30pm and Monday 9am-5pm you’ll dive deeper still, exploring the application of myofascial release as part of yoga practice.
In this interactive teacher workshop, you’ll learn:
> What fascia is
> How fascia functions and common areas of dysfunction
> The role of fascia in communication and interoception
> Principles of myofascial release
> Tools and techniques for myofascial release in a yoga setting
> How to incorporate myofascial release into group and private sessions
> Common teaching challenges
> Themes and sequencing approaches
Attendance of both days qualifies you for 12 hours CEU with Yoga Alliance, and you’ll receive a handout to help you remember key concepts from the course.
