Small Group Reformer Pilates Classes at
The Kali Collective

  • Using the reformer is an excellent way to awaken and strengthen our deep stabiliser muscles. Having these muscles active is important because it affects the way we move, how we breathe, our posture and so much more.

Our reformer sessions are therapeutic focused, meaning we customise the movements to your needs and move at a slower pace, ensuring the correct muscles are working.

Reformer pilates is great for anyone rehabbing from an injury, looking to improve their overall fitness or wanting a low impact form of exercise for example anyone with arthritis or joint issues.

  • We suggest wearing the same thing you would for yoga and socks are a must! Socks with a grippy bottom are great but not necessary.

  • Reformer Pilates is a form of Pilates that utilizes a specialized machine called a "Reformer." This equipment consists of a sliding carriage, springs, and pulleys, allowing for a wide range of exercises aimed at improving strength, flexibility, and posture. The resistance provided by the springs can be adjusted to suit different fitness levels.

FAQs

It's advisable to start with a beginner's course or a private session to familiarise yourself with the equipment and basic movements, however, our instructors are able to take the time to help you if you are new.

  • While both forms focus on core strength, flexibility, and overall body awareness, the primary difference lies in the equipment used. Mat Pilates is performed on the floor using body weight for resistance, whereas Reformer Pilates uses the Reformer machine to provide adjustable resistance, allowing for a broader range of exercises and intensity levels.
