YOGA IN THE
DARKNESS OF GLASGOW

Our studio, inspired by Kali, uses darkness as a guide to deeper, more awake and mindful living. Depth of Yoga is at the heart of our studio, and we honour this practice as an ancient tradition. We believe that alchemy comes from integrating both the light and the shadow, and we are here to guide you as you unfold.

Our Offerings

  • Vinyāsa is great for students looking to find movement, creativity, playfulness and a deep connection to their breath and body. Most of the classes offered at the Kali Collective are vinyasa flow based. This particular style allows for creativity and dynamic movement paired with the rhythm of your breath. Sequences will be different in each class, and you will likely run into new poses and transitions all the time.

    See our class timetable here.

  • Kali Flow 1.0 is a unique, creative collaboration passionately brought to life by the entire Kali team. This set sequence is designed to inspire you and help deepen your practice with a well rounded, challenging practice. Kali Flow 1.0 will follow a set flow of poses so that you can tend to your practice and witness yourself unfold within a consistent framework. The full set sequence is 90 minutes and adaptations will be made at the teacher's discretion for the 75 minute classes. An understanding of a Vinyāsa class is recommended.

  • We have 2 spaces at our Glasgow studio, the CREATOR and the DESTROYER. The DESTROYER hosts our hot yoga classes, heated with infrared panels for a spacious, dry heat. Our hot vinyasa and hot Kali Flow classes are heated to approximately 32°C and our warm yin & restorative classes are around 26°C. Please bring a towel or rent one for £1.

  • Gentle flow is the perfect place to start if you are new to yoga or simply want a slower-paced practice. Our Gentle Flow classes are accessible to all practitioners, regardless of experience. Other aspects of yoga, such as meditation, breathing techniques and yoga philosophy, will be introduced. Expect to have poses explained carefully and a slow-paced practice.

  • Yin yoga is a beautiful practice that requires poses to be held for several minutes with the intention of getting into the connective tissue. Light meditation and breathwork may be introduced. The benefits of yin yoga are to destress, get quiet, and create more space and flexibility in the body.

Restorative yoga is taught to increase parasympathetic tone, or move us into a state of more rest and healing. All postures will require several props to help support your body in different positions. Each posture will be held for several minutes. This class is for those who could benefit from more stillness and relaxation in their day.

This class blends the best of both Yin and Restorative so you can feel the benefits of both. Enjoy long held, relaxing postures that help to increase range of motion and create parasympathetic tone in your system. All levels welcome, however, don’t assume it’s easy just because you’re seated!

  • At aerial yoga we will use one yoga prop: the hammock. Leaving our mats and blocks on the ground we will explore various yin and restorative poses while our hammock provides the ultimate support (it will feel like a big hug). As well as exploring poses off the ground classes will sometimes include pranayama, meditation and nidra. As such classes are suitable for all levels.

  • This class is designed to be intuitive, responsive and without any boundaries! Open to all, our Yoga class will meet you where you are and provide the space to build a relationship with each posture. It won't be sweaty; it won't be sleepy. It'll be somewhere in between. Offerings may include simple flows, longer-held postures, prop work including myofascial release, mantras, meditation and more.

  • Beginners are more than welcome in our space. We do not offer beginner specific classes as we don’t love labels, however the best place is start is our gentle or restorative classes.

  • We are delighted to be offering 1 - 1 sessions in a therapeutic capacity. Although the ancients have known this for a very long time, the west has come around and is seeing this practice as a form of therapy. Our goal is to share with you the wisdom of yoga, so you have tools to add to your other forms of self care. Therapeutic sessions are on a 1-1 basis. To learn more please click here.

  • ‘Yoga for Cancer’ is a class that is for anyone impacted by cancer in any form. The class is designed to be accessible, and the intention is to carve out a space for you to engage in a yoga practice safely, feel a sense of grounding and be around others that also have a relationship with cancer. The class is also open to those caring for a family member or a friend. You will need to be reasonably mobile and able to move independently. Please note, all surgical incisions must be healed before attending class (at least 6 weeks post surgery). The class is a £5, if you are financially stretched at this time - please email us at hello@kalicollective.com so we can sign you up to practice for free. If you are new to class, please arrive 10 minutes early to touch base with Emily, to make sure you feel as supported as possible.

  • Join Emily for an expressive dance class for all levels! Emily will hold a safe space for you to try expressing your creative side through the art of dance, using music and the contemporary dance style as inspiration. Please know this is not a technique-based class, and the intention is to use the energy of dance to express and develop confidence. At The Kali Collective, there are no mirrors; this acts as a beautiful opportunity to step away from aesthetics and move from a place of heart and feeling.
