KALI x SSPCA
Our Partnership
In many ways, our partnership started a long time ago. Firstly, I fell in love with my ex-racing Greyhound, Nell, when I adopted her in 2020. It really hit me just how much her being mistreated affected her. My relationship with animals was forever changed. Then, in 2023, I moved to Hamilton and drove past the Lanarkshire SSPCA location almost daily. Whenever I drove by, I wondered what kind of wee souls were in there - I knew there were dogs there just like my Nell.
Then in 2025, I saw an Instagram post about a reticulated python named Monty that really affected me, as snakes also hold a special place in my heart. I enquired about doing some fundraising (unfortunately, I’m not interested in rehoming a 10ft long python!) and lo and behold, I found out Monty was at the SPCA down the road. I started visiting him and slowly learning more about the SSPCA.
While meeting with a fundraising lead, I noticed a flyer seeking dog-walking volunteers, and before I knew it, I was going in twice a week. I fell head over heels for the dogs. I also plummeted into a dark place, seeing the reality of animal abuse. I didn’t realise it was so bad. I didn’t realise how stretched the SSPCA were due to the incredibly high costs of running the centres and caring for all the animals. My heart broke, and still breaks, a hundred times over.
Now is the time in my life to funnel my passion and energy towards being in Service. Kali has taken such good care of myself and the community, it’s time for her to use one of her arms towards caring for others.
Like most things, I can’t do this alone. My job is to guide our community towards more awareness and care towards those in need. Individually, we can’t get very far, but with all of us, we can make big waves.

About Scottish SPCA
The Scottish SPCA (Charity number SC006467) is Scotland’s leading animal welfare charity, dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals across the country. From domestic pets to wildlife, their work spans emergency rescue, veterinary care, education, and advocacy.
Every year, thousands of animals are given a second chance through their tireless efforts. Whether it’s responding to cruelty cases, supporting pet owners in need, or nurturing injured wildlife back to health, their work quietly reshapes countless lives.
Why We Work With Them
There are so many great charities out there, but our relationship with the SSPCA felt the most organic. Because Steph is already in the centre, we have a direct connection to the animals. Steph is able to speak to the staff and find out what is most needed and urgent.
Having seen more of the behind-the-scenes operations, Steph can confirm that the values of Kali & the SSPCA are in alignment, and they are a charity to trust.
